You get a hat and scarf in one with this pattern - how adorable... she looks like a little elf :) This is a really cute retro vintage look, but is still totally cute for today.

This pattern is originally from New Lux, 1952 Edition. This is no longer in circulation, so in order to make it available for more vintage loving knitters, I am transcribing the instructions exactly as written in the original pattern book and offering them here.

Directions are for VINTAGE Infant/Chile size Newborn, 6 months, 1 year. Sizing is according to this chart from the original pattern book:

Year - ВЅ - 1
Chest - 19” - 20”
Waist - 19” - 19 ½”

If you are crafty, you can adjust the pattern to fit larger sizes by using thicker yarn and needles or by increasing the stitch count.

Original yarn used was:
Non-Shrink Baby Wool -
Newborn = 2 oz, size 2 needles
6-months = 3 oz, size 3 needles
1 year = 4 oz, size 4 needles

You can google vintage yarn and get the specifications you need to shop around for modern equivalents.
