Edible Decorations: Crystallized Rose Petals

These make a stunning decorative addition to your ice cream and are easy to make, once you know how. The trick is to be deft and delicate with a light touch. They make great decorations for Valentine's day, weddings and birthdays. They truly are a way to impress all your friends. Ingredients: - 1 egg white - 1 tablespoon caster (superfine) sugar - 1 rose head, freshly picked

Step 1

Break the egg in a bowl and separate it. You will only need the whites. Whisk until light and frothy.

Step 2

With a small, clean paintbrush, lightly coat each rose petal with the frothy part of the egg white, then sprinkle the sugar over and voila! You have sugared rose petals.
