Savory cookies are a growing search trend on The Food Channel, reports The Christian Science Monitor this week. Imagine Gruyere and ham thumbprints from Martha Stewart or seaweed cookies from Dave Lebovitz  dorning your holiday platters instead of boring olives and cheese. The recipes, which downgrade the sugar but keep the butter of a normal cookie batter, often include common cracker toppers like cheese or a schmear but instead just bake them right into the appetizer.
